The following people are SACS executive members for 2020-2021

Akhila Rao

Co-President

Akhila Rao

Akhila is a U3, cognitive science student with a major concentration in neuroscience and a minor in communications studies. Throughout her degree, a few classes have stood out. One being PSYC 410 as it covers some of the most interesting neuropsychiatry topics including phantom limb and blindsight. Another is PHIL 221 with Ian Gold because it integrates all five streams of cognitive science. As one of the Co-Presidents, Akhila will be working alongside Emma Nephtali to oversee all aspects of council, including online event planning, clothing orders, and advocating for the student voice at meetings with cog sci professors. In her free time, you can find her learning how to embroider and baking!

Emma Nephtali

Emma is a U3 Cognitive Science student streaming in Neuroscience and minoring in Linguistics. As one of the Co-Presidents, Emma’s role on SACS is to work with Akhila Rao to supervise the council and oversee all facets of it, including, but not limited to, (online) academic and social events, finance, and being available to help out and represent other cog sci students. In her spare time, she likes to play guitar, go for walks up Mont Royal, and get involved with local politics back home.

As the VP Academic of SACS, he’s in charge of the organization of the Speaker Series and the Lab Tours, plus other academic events he has in mind (stay tuned!). He really likes most of the CogSci courses he’s taken, but he particularly enjoyed NSCI 201, and he thinks that MATH 240 with Prof. Lumley is the best math class in CS - prove that he’s wrong! During the four months of the year in which McGill is not taking over his life, he usually reads, writes, chills in the outdoors, and tries to solve the hard problem of consciousness.
He hopes to see you around (virtually -- thanks Covid) in one of our events this year!
